Flatbed Tonight reimagines the late-night talk show by taking it to the streets—literally. With the Flatbed truck and its guests as the stars, the show blends the irreverence of The Larry Sanders Show with the charm of Charles Kuralt and Art Linkletter.

Chris Hawes

Born and raised in Northern Ontario near a NASA lunar landing practice site nicknamed "the Moon," Chris grew up in a barren landscape outside Sudbury, dreaming of escape while playing sports and catching glimpses of The Tonight Show.

Inspired by dreams of sitting across from Johnny Carson, Chris began his comedy career in the late '80s, earning recognition as runner-up in The Search for Canada’s Funniest Comic and later contributing to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. After years touring Canada and the U.S., opening a Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club, and appearing in films and commercials, Chris retired from comedy in 1999 to focus on family and business.

For two decades, he embraced life as a businessman, hockey and baseball coach, and hands-on parent. With his children grown, Chris has returned to comedy, blending his seasoned perspective with the humor of a dreamer who once watched a Zenith TV.

Married to his high school sweetheart for 37 years, Chris now lives in the suburbs, where his family and neighbors agree he’s a little crazy—but his passion for creating laughs keeps him going.
